Without a doubt, Facebook Messenger chat bots are a new way to communicate with users when we are away from our Facebook page. But at NeoTeo we think of you, an entrepreneur with limited resources and little development knowledge, which is why we're going to teach you to create a chat bot for your Facebook page without any coding skills.
We'll go step by step, using a platform called Botsify. Just sit back and do it.
Getting Started with Facebook for Developers
The first thing you need is a Facebook page. Then, go to Facebook for Developers and select the Facebook Canvas option. In the search box, type "App" (that will be the name of your application) and click the button that appears.
Now fill in all the data the platform asks for to create the new app, such as email and app category. Refresh the page and go to the top right. Under "My apps", you'll see your app with its name (in this case "App") and click on it.
From the dashboard, click "Add Product" and select "Messenger" by clicking "Get Started". The configuration and association will begin. After adding the app, you'll need to select your Facebook page so the platform gives you an identification code. We recommend copying and pasting it into a text document.
Setting Up Botsify
Now Botsify comes into play. Go to its website, create an account, click "Create Application" and fill in the fields. It's very important to enter the ID of the app we created earlier in the "Application ID" field. Then just click "CREATE BOT".
You will receive the Webhook from the page; copy it and paste it into a text document.
Connecting Botsify to Facebook
We go back to Facebook for Developers and click the "Setup Webhooks" button below the connection code. A popup will open. Copy both the Webhook and the Secret Key from Botsify into the popup, select all subscription fields, and click "Verify and Save".
Return to the Botsify dashboard and click "Active". The bot will be created.
Configuring Your Chatbot's Responses
We're almost done. Now we just need to configure our chat bot. To set up the responses, click on "Manage Chatbots" and select the last option (or whichever you prefer).
Now we're ready to create automatic responses and create templates with images, links, and commands so users can receive them. It's very simple—just enter each option and give a personalized response to each query. You'll do it between "App" (the user) and your "Profile" (your response).
The platform is really good for giving automatic responses in the chat room of your Facebook page, and although the configuration has its complications, it's not difficult and you can do it with a little patience.
Botsify is a free platform with plenty of help for creating automatic responses.
