SkyScout, de Celestron, para leer el cielo

El dispositivo utiliza tecnologia GPS para localizar los cuerpos celestes e informarnos sobre ellos

La tecnologia GPS esta, desde luego, asociada a los sistemas de navegacion satelitales. Pero otros ven a esa tecnologia como una foma de desarrollar el potencial, de maneras innovadoras. Celestron, que se dedica a producir telescopios, ha desarrollado un dispositivo que permite identificar miles de objetos en el cielo. El SkyScout usa tecnologia GPS para encontrar la ubicacion de objetos celestes que pueden ser divisados a simple vista, y le informa que es lo que uno esta mirando. Es como ir al planetario, excepto que uno esta a cielo abierto, mirando las estrellas. El aparatito en cuestion tiene una base de datos integrada con datos de mas de 6000 cuerpos celestes, y puede ser actualizado mediante el puerto USB o el slot que tiene disponible para memorias SD, asi que supongamos que se descubre un nuevo planeta o asteroide, uno puede bajarse la infomacion y ya la tiene disponible en el SkyScout.
