More and more countries are producing excellent audiovisual content, South Korea being a prime example. However, to watch and understand that material, we need subtitles. These tools can be useful to help that content circulate.
These environments are ideal for short works, because uploading long material online will consume a lot of time and bandwidth.
Subtitle Horse
Let's start with Subtitle Horse, a very good web page to create video subtitles online. The platform allows you to load the video (from YouTube or a URL of an online video in formats: MP4, FLV, WEBM, OGV, etc.) and immediately start creating subtitles. From its interface you can perform the following tasks: play the video, add text by segments, etc. Once finished, you can export the subtitles in formats: VTT, SRT, Timed Text, JSON, SBV, Encore, and Text.
Amara
We continue with Amara, an advanced online subtitle creator. The platform supports uploading videos from: YouTube, Vimeo, MP4, WebM, FLV, and OGG. Then you have to add a language and subsequently you will see the interface to add subtitles, and from there you can use the mouse or keyboard shortcuts. Once finished, you can export the subtitles in formats: SRT, SBV, VTT, SSA, etcetera.
Although both are good, for us the best one is: Subtitle Horse.
